Tek Courtney LLC is a landscape design-build company with a focus on people and plants.

Based in northern New Jersey, we endevour to bring you gardens that are enchanting, full of life, and carefully selected for each person who calls this place home.

We assemble gardens as populations of plants across time, coordinate bloom times, and go to bat for you to fill every budget with as many flowers as possible. We plant gardens as the wonderful conglomeration of people, plants and little things that they are.

We work with you, the local and regional history of the site, and all the flowers and little things so often missing from our landscapes today.

ABOUT TEKLA

Tekla Pontius-Courtney is a landscape designer and gardener with a particular interest in the forbs and graminoids of the Northeast.

Tek studied botany at the University of Toronto and landscape architecture at Rutgers University. Formerly under Joan Piasecki’s Acer Garden Design before Joan’s retirement, at home Tek can generally be found outside watching the garden with a cup of coffee, trying to learn a new language, or reading.

“I try to plant something at home first, before ever planting it at work. You can never really know a plant until you’ve planted it yourself and watched it for years. With planting comes great responsibility, to the site, to the people, and to the plants themselves. It’s a privilege and an honour to work on gardens, these places we call home that are both intensely personal, and greater than any one of us.”
